About Athena Walker

Athena Walker grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she attended Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Athena also attended Gallaudet University. Afterward, Athena eventually relocated to Austin, Texas where she started working for Texas School for the Deaf. Athena is currently a Day Residential Educator in the high school dorms. Athena’s areas of specialty for teaching in the dorms include arts and crafts, as well as helping students develop consistent structure in their daily lives. Athena believes in the importance of communication skills to overcome barriers. During Athena’s free time, Athena likes to read books, take care of animals, and spend time in nature.
