LEE GODBOLD

Lee Godbold has her B.S. degree in Deaf Education and M.Ed. in ASL/English Interpretation. She taught in inner city Houston for three years prior to going into full-time interpreting. She has worked as an interpreter for Texas School for the Deaf since 2008, as well as mentors interns from across the United States and Canada. Lee spent the 2013-14 school-year in India where she worked and trained sign language interpreters (Hindi, English, ASL).

Lee previously guest lectured at the University of Southern Maine and has taught workshops on a variety of topics at the Communication Skills Workshop (CSW) and Statewide Conference of Education of the Deaf (SWCED). Lee holds her BEI Master, Court, and Medical, as well as her RID NIC, and Ed K-12. In addition to working at TSD, she also works for the University of North Florida as adjunct faculty, and interprets for various local and national agencies. In 2011, Lee had the opportunity to conduct research on social language competency of educational interpreters at the University of Graz in Austria and her contribution to an interpreting textbook was published in 2013. She also serves on the Austin Community College ITP Advisory Board and the University of North Florida Graduate Task Force.

Outside of her passion for interpreting, Lee loves traveling, reading, food trucks, and archery. Her goals include pursuing her Qualified Mental Health Interpreter certification and continuing to challenge herself both professionally and personally.
