Lori Taylor
Hello! I'm Lori Taylor, this is my 16th year teaching here at TSD. I am the Child Development and Human Services Teacher at Texas School for the Deaf.
I went to National Technical Institute for the Deaf for my AAS degree in Applied Accounting and then to Rochester Institute of Technology for my Bachelor of Science degree in Food Management. After that, I went to Chicago to work as a front-house supervisor in the cafeteria at Lucent Technologies. After 10+ years in the food industry, I decided to return to Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue my Master's Degree in Human Resource Development and graduated in 2004.
Upon graduation, I operated a business with my partner called, "Deafworks! Professional Career Center" where I helped Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) clients find employment for 10 years. After that, I relocated to Austin, TX, in 2009 and started working at Texas School for the Deaf in a variety of roles over the years: Job Coach, Culinary Arts Teacher, and Career Preparation I (CP1) Teacher. While at TSD, I obtained my Special Education teaching certification from ITT (I Teach Texas).
During my free time, I love to spend time with family - my husband and my two older children along with my 4 cats and a grand-dog Ace!! My son graduated 3 years ago, from Gallaudet University and lived in Colorado for 3 years and now he back to Austin to work at TSD as Elementary school teacher. My daughter is currently a last year at Gallaudet University. We all love to go camping and socializing with family and friends.
The best time to reach me would be my prep time during 7th block (M-Th-2:40-3:30 pm, or email me and I will reply within 12-24 hours).
