Recycling and Waste Management

Recycling and Waste Management

TSD is committed to helping our environment, which is why recycling and waste management go hand in hand.

Recycling:

We are a Single Stream Recycling School!

Ways that you can RECYCLE:

Place paper, cardboard, magazines, plastic, metal and aluminum cans into the recycle bin in your
  area.
If your recycle bin has a clear trash liner, then your Custodian will empty the bin as it fills.  If you have
no liner, then you take your recycle items to the closest large bin with a clear liner and dump it.

(Please do not put recycle materials with food waste, used tissues, glass or garbage in the recycle bins)

Your Custodian will place the filled clear plastic recycle bags outside your building daily, where they are picked up and placed in large wheeled recycle bins. Twice a week the Texas Facilities Commission sends a truck to empty our recycle bins.  TFC tracks our recycle goods and sends a quarterly statement to let us see how we are doing.

Waste Management:

All trash that cannot be recycled goes into trash cans with black liners.  Those trash cans are emptied daily by your building custodian. The black bags are placed outside the building to be picked up and placed in the large waste bins on campus.

Trash is picked up 2 times a week from the campus.  It is our goal to increase the recycle pickups (these are free), and decrease the trash pickups (we pay for these).
