COMPENSATION

 
The Texas School for the Deaf and its staff enjoy all the benefits of being a state agency in addition to being a school district. At TSD, we know that compensation includes much more than a paycheck and we are able to offer an extensive benefits package to our employees. INSURANCE BENEFITS

 

TSD is committed to investing in the health and well-being of its greatest assets—its employees. As part of this commitment, the agency offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package to our employees and their families so that they are empowered to live healthy, balanced, and fulfilling lives.

All TSD employees are eligible for group health insurance, prescription drug benefits, State-paid basic term life insurance, dental, vision, optional life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), dependent life, disability insurance through the State of Texas Employees Retirement System. TSD pays 100% of the health insurance premiums for full-time employees and 50% of the premiums for their dependents.

RETIREMENT

 

Texas School for the Deaf offers many retirement benefits, including a defined benefit program (pension) through the Employee’s Retirement System of Texas, a 401(k), a 457, and a 403(b) plan. The State contributes to the pension plan to ensure that employees have a monthly annuity for life once they retire.
