Austin, Texas – On October 28, was celebrated the 2014 Homecoming at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) - one of the most cherished tradition at the 158 year-old school. We were visited by former students, families and friends for the annual festival and full day of activities.
TSD Lady Rangers played an exhibition match against their predecessors - TSD’s alumni, keeping the crowd entertained.
Then, pre-game activities included the presentation of formers homecoming queens.
TSD Rangers football team met the Royals from San Antonio’s St. Gerard Catholic High School. Friends, families and fans of the Rangers saw a sensational game.
Claire Bugen, Superintendent said - "Sending a heartfelt thank you to the many individuals and organizations that helped make Homecoming 2014 a big success. I especially want to thank the Homecoming Committee, Athletics, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Grounds, ERCOD, Student Affairs, Health Center, Interpreters, Security, Alumni, High School staff, Business Office Staff, Transportation, Technology, Health Center, Cheerleaders and Coaches."
Bugen added - "Spirit Week activities culminating with the Pep Rally and the not to be forgotten "Pig Kissing" provided a good time for all. The booth festival, the Alumni/TSD volleyball game and the tremendous Ranger victory added to the enjoyment.
Congratulations to Homecoming Queen Whitney Hernandez and King losif Shayman. A new TSD first was the T-shirt air cannon that launched t-shirts into the crowd to the delight of our fans. The crowd really came to life when our very own NFL commentator Nick Bannon took to the mic to do the play by play."
And the Superintendent concluded with these words - "Homecoming is one of those events where we work together to support each other to host something great!"
