Texas School for the Deaf Hall of Fame was established in 1989. Its purpose is to honor and commemorate former TSD students, faculty and other dedicated supporters who have made outstanding accomplishments in four categories: arts, community service, education, and sports. They have brought lasting fame to the Texas School for the Deaf through their exceptional feats in sports and arts at all levels and made significant contributions to education of the deaf and to the deaf community.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremonies shall be held during the TSD Homecoming weekend. Those inducted will receive a plaque. Their names, photos, and accomplishments will be on display in the hall between the offices in the Heritage Center.
The nominations shall be submitted to the Hall of Fame chair at least two months before the current year’s Homecoming event. The forms are included here.
This year the nomination forms must be sent by August 15, 2014.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINEES IN ALL THE CATEGORIES: ARTS, COMMUNITY SERVICE, EDUCATION, AND SPORTS
1) A candidate must have brought fame and glory to the Texas School for the Deaf.
2) All candidates/students must have attended the Texas School for the Deaf for at least two academic years.
3) All candidates/staff (either former TSD students or non-TSD students) must have spent/worked at least five years at the Texas School for the Deaf.
4) All candidates/students must have been out of high school for at least five years.
5) All candidates/staff must have resigned or have been in retirement for at least five years.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINEES IN SPORTS
1) Male or female participants in any recognized form of sports competition are eligible for selections.
2) All candidate coaches must have spent at least five years in sports competition or produced a championship team in less time during their coaching days at the Texas School for the Deaf, whichever shall come first.
NOMINATIONS:
1) Candidates for the TSD Hall of Fame may be named by interested individuals. It shall be the responsibility of the nominator to supply all supporting materials such as newspaper clippings, photos, etc. The nominator’s name shall be confidential
2) All nominations must be submitted to the Hall of Fame Chairperson prior to August 15, 2014 preceding their induction into the TSD Hall of Fame. The election of honorees shall be finalized and results submitted to the TSDAA executive board within thirty (30) days thereafter.
3) All candidates must have never been convicted of a crime constituting a felony under the Laws of the State of Texas or the United States of America.
