STAAR End-of-Course (EOC)
This may or may not apply to your child(ren). However, for any students who did not meet the passing standards on the December 2023 exams, missed taking the exams back in the winter due to various reasons, or are currently taking the course this year, they will be taking the appropriate subject EOC assessment(s) in April in one or more of the following areas of Algebra 1, English 1, English 2, Biology & US History.
Important EOC Assessment Dates:
Tuesday, April 9th: English 1 EOC
Thursday, April 11th: English 2 EOC
Tuesday, April 16th: U.S History EOC
Thursday, April 18th: Biology EOC
Tuesday, April 23rd: Algebra 1
With that being said, we want our valuable students to be ready to take the assessments. I will be sending a separate email to students to remind them how to prepare well for the exams, what to do during the exams, how to use the testing strategies as well as what to do the night before (such as eating well and going to bed early/on time).
Teachers have been communicating with students on whether they're taking the EOCs or not and on which days. I will be sending the roster on testing locations to students everyday to prepare for the next day's EOC assessment. Dorm students' evening staff will be notified as well.
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)
We will be administering NWEA MAP Growth tests April 30-May 1 for students in grades 9–12. This assessment is typically given three times a year.
The Spring 2024 NWEA MAP assessment dates for High School students are as follows:
Tuesday, April 30th: Reading MAP
Wednesday, May 1st: Math MAP
Thursday, May 2nd: Language MAP
Students who are unable to test during those three days will be contacted to do make-up testing during the remaining days with May 16th as our last MAP testing day. There will be no special schedule for students. Students will take the MAP test in their Math and English classes. If your student was enrolled in Math Models during the 1st semester, we will schedule a special testing time for them.
More information about NWEA MAP:
This test helps provide teachers with an honest assessment of each student’s understanding in reading and math so that we can better support their growth throughout the year. The test does not affect your student’s grades, but it is important for them to try their hardest so that we can get an accurate assessment of their progress.
The TSD HS/CTE administration team appreciates your continued support to ensure our students are mentally ready for those important testing days.
