FOLLOWING SXSW EDU, GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT VISITS TSD
Austin, Texas – March 10, 2022 – Gallaudet University President, Roberta J. Cordano, pays a visit to students at Texas School for the Deaf today at 10:00 a.m., and tomorrow, speaks at a Gallaudet Alumni Association luncheon at 12:00 p.m.
A featured South by Southwest’s EDU Conference & Festival speaker earlier this week, Cordano shared a vision to “create a new model of belonging for our world” emphasizing, since almost everyone will experience hearing loss at some time in their lives, why it’s important for all of us to learn sign language.
Cordano is the 11th president of Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for students who are deaf and hard of hearing, in Washington, D.C. She is the fourth deaf president and the first deaf female president in the university’s history.
“With Austin’s vibrant Deaf community, including a large number of Gallaudet University alumni, we’re proud to host President Cordano’s visit to the school, and we very much look forward to her messages to the students and Gallaudet alumni,” said TSD Superintendent, Claire Bugen.
