Deaf Space Pioneers Day: Learn about careers in the Space Industry and the experiences of Deaf/Hard of Hearing Employees who work in this field.
DeafTEC proudly announces a workshop for middle school and high school Deaf and Hard of Hearing students designed for exploration of space career opportunities. The space industry is growing by leaps and bounds in both the private and public sectors and there are a number of individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing working in the space industry today.
DeafTEC Texas will host its' first Deaf Space Pioneers Day on January 24, 2018, bringing Deaf/Hard of Hearing professionals in the space industry to the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) for a day of learning and exploring. The day will provide presentations by Deaf/Hoh space industry professionals as well as activities, discussions, and exhibits throughout the afternoon.
Please take notice that this workshop is a bit unique. We will offer a live streaming option to those who cannot attend the workshop in person. We will provide an activity kit to a number of those who will be watching the live stream. The information below will help us keep track of numbers of online and on-site participants.
This day will be offered in a variety of venues. For students at TSD and from schools in the local area, we encourage you to consider attending the onsite event on the TSD campus. In addition, we will provide live streaming of the presentations, activity kits for your program and video of a variety of individuals who work in the space industry to enable educators to provide this event on their individual campuses. Number of activity kits will be limited, so first come, first serve. Please complete the registration questions below and submit as soon as possible.
